eBay, the giant online retailer, brings you this app which actually has been around for a while now. While eBay may introduce you to some great deals on furniture, food, and clothes, its app has stopped being anything close to leading in the last few years.
It offers you tools to do your regular shopping, much like the web-browser version and tries to place everything at your fingertips with a nice interface. The home panel features options for Activity, Shop, and Sell. Below this panel are large, colorful photo displays. There is also a search glass and a shopping cart which you can easily use to query and stock up on shopping items. You will also see options for scanning via QR Reader and input via speech. The score of the design is 5 ut of 5!
The app looks good on both iOS and Android mobile, and the interface is easy to navigate through. However, some of the features on the eBay web platform are more difficult to use on the mobile app. With your eBay account, you can create your listings too with details of the pricing, product features, and age, and invite others to look at your offers. You can also make those listings colorful with real-life HD photos, and place them in different categories such as fashion, Electronics, Home & Décor, Fitness, and Car & Auto parts.
This is an app for all Android devices, and the app has been modified over time for the compatibility of newer Androids. The IPA is compatible with iOS 10.0 or later, for iPads, iPhones, and iPod Touches. The eBay app is free to install, and there are no in-app purchases.
Unfortunately, the app doesn’t live up to its name. The product features on this app don’t work as expected. Updates which are supposed to fix glitches rarely work and the latest version has all but messed up the new items listings. Augmented reality helps you see real-life scenarios of what fits your box. My mark of the features is 3 out of 5.
Convenience and Performance
The overall performance of both iOS and Android apps is wanting, and I would have expected a giant retailer such as eBay to ensure the quality of its retail app. The ‘Saved Searches’ feature which was core to the success of the Desktop app doesn’t work anymore.
The app crashes and freezes, and I’ve tested it on several devices already. You cannot customize your searches, unlike the desktop version. The eBay app developers need actually to take some time out with this app.
There aren’t too many security breaches to speak off, and there are always checks by eBay to ensure that sellers deliver what they promised. eBay is however unstable, and I would probably expect there to be concerned about security and collection of personal info. The score of the performance is also low – only 2.5/5.
- Great design;
- The eBay Google Play app for Android runs on even earlier versions of the OS (Android 1.1 or higher);
- Integrates lists across both mobile and desktop;
- Available for both Google Android and iOS.
- Most features from desktop don’t work on the mobile app;
- No user customization;
- Features don’t work often.
Terrible work from eBay. From myself and millions of other users, this has been one major disappointment. I deleted this app from all my devices since the cons outweigh the pros. I wouldn’t recommend this app to anyone.
